TGIF: Book Appeal
Friday, February 03, 2012
TGIF is a weekly question about books posed by GReads! Week after week I've seen it and thought, "Those questions are fun. Too bad I always have my YA feature on Fridays." This week I realized that it isn't the worst thing in the world to double-post. If you are grievously offended by double-posting, I apologize -- but I am looking forward to answering these questions instead of just reading them in the future. Hooray!
This week's question is:
Book Appeal: When you're browsing goodreads, the library, or another blogger's reviews, what grabs your attention to make you want to read it?
Honestly, many different factors can make a book pop out to me. Like everyone, pretty covers appeal to me. I also like character-driven books, so if someone says a book is really character driven -- even if they are complaining that the book is too character-driven -- I'll often want to check it out. There are also certain subjects that I love. If there is anything neuroscience-y or medical about it (especially cancer, since that is the speciality I would most love to work with), I am all over it. I also lately am really interested in the Tudors, and will pick up just about anything about them. I think I go through phases where certain books appeal to me.
