The Classics Club -- September 2012 Meme

This month's prompt is fantastic as it creates a community spirit among Classics Club bloggers. The prompt is:
Pick a classic someone else in the club has read from our big review list. Link to their review and offer a quote from their post describing their reaction to the book. What about their post makes you excited to read that classic in particular?

I headed to the big review list and decided to read a review of The Woman in White by Wilkie Collins, as that is one of the books I am planning to read in October for R.I.P. VII (exciting!). I read Annette's review. In her review, she states,
At no point was I bored; it is a charming book even if the story is filled with high drama that is rather dark and swarthy.I loved this story and consider it in my top five of most beloved stories I've read!
This quote alone sounds just perfect for the experience I am hoping to have with Woman in White. I want some high drama and some thrills and chills. And the fact that she considers it one of her top five is also very promising. I can't wait to jump into it. Thanks for your review, Annette!

  1. The Woman in White is great. I hope you love it. May not be quite the thriller you'd expect, it certainly is great writing and very engaging. Enjoy!

  2. That's a rare quote for a classic. They're not usually free of slow parts. I'll have to reconsider reading this one.

    1. I agree -- and this one is over 500 pages long, as well. I am really excited for October to dive in.
