It's been another good month for getting books, particularly with the lovely raid I made on the library yesterday.

Borrowed from the Library:
Lola and the Boy Next Door by Stephanie Perkins
At Home in Mitford by Jan Karon
The Goose Girl by Shannon Hale
Spark by John Ratey, M.D. (This one is for the Husband, but I might get to it before it is due)

Borrowed from my sister-in-law:
The Time Traveler's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger

Won:
The House of Mirth by Edith Wharton
Dracula by Bram Stoker
Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte (all from Allie)

Gift:
Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor

NetGalley:
Pure by Julianna Baggot
Daring to Eat a Peach by Joseph Zeppetello

That seems manageable, right? Not that these will all be read this month, but at least I can hope to read about ten books this month. Although with NaNoWriMo going on, maybe my monthly average will decrease. Well, we'll see!

PS: Thanks, Story Siren, for hosting.

  1. You've got some great books on this list. I love that you read the Mitford series, I like to pick that one up when I visit home. The Goose Girl is darling, have you not read it before? I love that series, so I'm excited to hear what you think about it.

And you already know my love for Edith Wharton.

  2. Enjoy Wharton's The House of Mirth, it is a great novel. After you've read the book, watch the film adaptation directed by Terence Davies with Gillian Anderson as 'Lily Bart'. It is fabulous! Happy reading! Cheers! Chris

  3. Pure is amazing. Pure is amazing. Pure is amazing. My word, I really hope you enjoy it as much as I did. It is SO DIFFERENT for a dystopian. I CAN'T wait to read your thoughts.

Also, the Mitford books are fun. I have the Time Traveler's Wife out from the library and I *so* hope I can get to it. I want to read it so badly but I'm scared of the amount of emotion I'll feel.

  4. @Allison - I read all of them in the sixth grade and I have been wanting to go back to them now that I am old enough to actually appreciate them. Lately I've been wanting some comfort reads - I am going to try some Maeve Binchy too.

@Christopher - Thanks for the movie recommendation! I've already read the book and it is one of my favorites.

@Asheley - I am so excited to read it! I loved the Mitford books a long time ago and I have been wanting to reread them. I don't know when I'll read The Time Traveler's Wife but it should be intense. Have you seen the movie?
