The Sunday Salon: Announcements!!

Sunday, August 14, 2011

Hello bloggy friends,

Just wanted to update you on a few little details. First of all, I am going to be out of town all this week. I am trying to get some posts scheduled to keep you all entertained, but they won't be posted on Facebook or Twitter, so if that is usually how you follow, please do check back at the blog to see new posts. With my anniversary yesterday and trying to get ready for camp after having been in Idaho all week, I didn't get any posts scheduled. So consider this a little blog break. I am going to be a camp counselor at Camp Kesem, a camp for kids whose parents have cancer. If you are interested in helping this cause, please come here and earn some good karma for yourself. :)

In other news, I just spent the last week in Idaho with my family and got to see this gentleman perform. He actually came out to the middle of the floor for a few songs at one point and was one row away from me. We made eye contact - it made me feel so famous. Definitely a highlight of the summer! I am so happy to have a few weeks of vacation time. Also, last night my husband surprised me by taking me to Josh Groban for our first anniversary! He is hilarious and just as awesome a vocalist live. It's been an excellent week for concerts, I must say.

Finally, I have joined the Forever Young Adult book club. The only problem is that I don't have the book, Beauty Queens by Libba Bray, and although I am on hold for it at the library, the chances of actually getting the book in time are slim to impossible. I was wondering if anyone has the book on Kindle and would be willing to loan it to me. Someone who loves me gave me the book. I am spoiled. Thank you! (I just discovered that it is possible to loan books on Kindle - this is going to revolutionize my whole reading experience!) To do this, go to the Manage Your Kindle page, select the book, and click on the "loan this book" option and put in my email address. I should add that I would love to buy the book and support bookstores, but I truly can't afford it. Almost all the books I read are review copies, public domain, or from the library. I would be happy to loan any books I have on Kindle to whomever is kind enough to loan back.

That is all in The Story Girl world for now. Hope you all have lovely August weeks while I go crazy with a bunch of eight year olds this week! Back to regular programming (and classes) next week. Peace out!

  1. Thank you for sharing how to loan a Kindle book. I've been sad all summer since my friend Lisa got a Kindle. She usually loans me the latest Stephanie Plum book each summer, but this summer she got the Kindle version.

So I'm off to share your info with her!

    Thank you!

  3. That camp sounds like a fantastic cause! Your musical week must have been so much fun. :) I've never loaned anything on the Kindle and wasn't sure how it was done, so thanks for the info.
